1. Who We Are
This Privacy Policy explains how Scoutletic (“Scoutletic,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) collects, uses, shares and protects your personal information when you use our website, applications and services (together, the “Services”). Scoutletic is owned and operated by Lafoba, which acts as the data controller responsible for your personal information.
This policy applies to everyone who uses Scoutletic, wherever you are located. We aim to comply with data protection laws around the world, including the EU and UK General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), the California Consumer Privacy Act as amended by the CPRA (CCPA/CPRA), Brazil’s LGPD, Canada’s PIPEDA, and other applicable privacy laws. If you do not agree with this policy, please do not use the Services.
2. Information We Collect
We collect the following categories of information:
- Account information: name, email address, password, role (athlete, scout, coach or manager) and username.
- Profile information: sport, position, year of birth, gender, location (country, city, region), bio, physical attributes, statistics and achievements you choose to add.
- Content you upload: highlight videos, images and other media you post to your profile.
- Communications: messages you exchange with other members, and messages you send to our support team.
- Usage and device data: log data, IP address, browser and device type, pages viewed and general interaction data, collected through cookies and similar technologies (see our Cookie Policy).
You control what appears on your public profile. Please only share information you are comfortable making visible to scouts, coaches, managers and other members.
3. How We Use Your Information
We use personal information to:
- create and manage your account and profile;
- operate the Services and connect athletes with scouts, coaches and teams;
- enable search, messaging and other platform features;
- keep the platform safe, prevent fraud and abuse, and enforce our terms;
- respond to your requests and provide support;
- send service and, where permitted, marketing communications; and
- comply with legal obligations.
4. Legal Bases for Processing
Where the GDPR or similar laws apply, we rely on one or more of the following legal bases: performance of a contract (to provide the Services you request); your consent (for example, optional marketing or certain cookies, which you may withdraw at any time); our legitimate interests (to operate, secure and improve the Services in a way that does not override your rights); and compliance with a legal obligation.
5. Children & Parental Consent
Important note for parents and guardians. Scoutletic is a platform for showcasing athletic talent. Some athletes are young, as young as 10 years old. Accounts for anyone under the age of 18 (or the age of majority where they live) must be created, owned and managed by a parent or legal guardian on the minor’s behalf. A parent or guardian must review and agree to this Privacy Policy and our Terms & Conditions before a minor uses the Services.
We do not knowingly allow children to register on their own. By creating or managing an account for a minor, the parent or guardian confirms that they consent to the collection and use of the minor’s information as described here, and that they will supervise the minor’s use of the Services. Consistent with the U.S. Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA), we require verifiable parental consent for children under 13, and consistent with Article 8 of the GDPR we require parental consent for children below the applicable digital-consent age in their country (between 13 and 16, depending on the jurisdiction).
Parents and guardians may review, update or request deletion of their child’s information, and may withdraw consent, at any time by emailing support@scoutletic.com. If we learn that we have collected information from a child without the required parental consent, we will delete it promptly.
6. How We Share Information
We do not sell your personal information. We share information only as follows:
- With other members: your public profile and content are visible to scouts, coaches, managers and other users so they can discover and contact you.
- With service providers: trusted vendors who host our infrastructure, deliver email, or provide analytics, acting on our instructions and bound by confidentiality.
- For legal reasons: to comply with law, respond to lawful requests, or protect the rights, safety and property of Scoutletic, our users or the public.
- Business transfers: in connection with a merger, acquisition or sale of assets, subject to this policy.
7. International Data Transfers
Scoutletic operates globally, so your information may be processed in countries other than your own, including countries whose data-protection laws differ from those where you live. Where we transfer personal information across borders, we use appropriate safeguards such as the European Commission’s Standard Contractual Clauses, the UK International Data Transfer Addendum, or reliance on an adequacy decision.
8. Data Retention
We keep personal information for as long as your account is active and as needed to provide the Services. We also retain information where necessary to comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes and enforce our agreements. When information is no longer needed, we delete or anonymise it.
9. Your Rights
Depending on where you live, you may have some or all of the following rights over your personal information:
- access a copy of the information we hold about you;
- correct inaccurate or incomplete information;
- delete your information (“right to be forgotten”);
- restrict or object to certain processing;
- data portability;
- withdraw consent at any time; and
- lodge a complaint with your local data-protection authority.
California residents (CCPA/CPRA): you have the right to know what personal information we collect and how we use it, to request deletion or correction, to opt out of any “sale” or “sharing” of personal information (we do not sell or share your data for cross-context behavioural advertising), and not to be discriminated against for exercising your rights.
To exercise any right, email support@scoutletic.com. We will verify your request and respond within the timeframe required by applicable law.
10. Data Security
We use organisational and technical measures designed to protect your information, including encryption in transit and access controls. However, no method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security. Please protect your account by using a strong, unique password, keeping your login details confidential, and signing out on shared devices. You use the Services at your own risk, and to the extent permitted by law we are not liable for unauthorised access resulting from factors outside our reasonable control. In the unlikely event of a data breach that affects your personal information, we will notify you and the relevant authorities where required by applicable law.
11. Cookies
We use cookies and similar technologies to operate the site, remember your preferences and understand usage. You can manage your choices through your browser settings. See our Cookie Policy for details.
12. Third-Party Links
Our Services may link to third-party websites or services that we do not control. This policy does not apply to those sites; please review their privacy policies before providing any information.
13. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will update the “Last updated” date above and, where appropriate, notify you. Your continued use of the Services after changes take effect means you accept the revised policy.
